International Aid Services (IAS) is a Christian, non-political and non-profit international relief and development organization founded in 1989 with the purpose of assisting people in need. IAS mission is to save lives, promote self- reliance and dignity through human transformation, going beyond relief and development. International Aid Services Tanzania (IAS TZA) was registered in 2018. Currently IAS TZ has two strategic focus areas, namely; Inclusive Education and Development of Civil Society.
IAS TZA is looking for a capable and enthusiastic person to fill the vacancy of Accountant to bestationed in Arusha, with a possibility to shift to Dodoma Later. A successful candidate will be offered a one year contract (3 months’ probation) with a possibility for extension.
  • Funds disbursement to partners
  • Day-to-day petty cash disbursements
  • Preparation of invoices
  • Prepare payment vouchers, bank and cash reconciliation reports ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial documentation and approvals.
  • Liaise regularly with the banks and act as bank agent in all financial matters e.g. banking, withdrawals, payments confirmations and other correspondences.
  • Analyse financial reports from the field and give guidance on budgetary issues
  • Enter all vouchers in the quick book accounting system to ensure that updated data is available on request
  • Travel to the project sites for physical audit and training of field accountants in the given accounting standards
  • Maintain proper and accessible filing system for all accounting records
  • Liaise with Head Office finance personnel for funds and other correspondences
  • Ensure that timely financial reports are submitted from the field and to the Tanzania head office and relevant officers and back-donors
  • Assist in the preparation of year end accounts and support schedules for the audit purposes and facilitate any internal and external audits
  • Perform additional assignments as directed by the Administrator

Profile we are looking for

  • Relevant work experience with international donors and development project grant requirements
  • Good experience with financial management (min. 2 years experience)
  • Motivated to train and supervise Local Partners in financial management
  • Relevant higher education e.g. degree or college course in accounting
  • Speaks and writes English and Kiswahili fluently
  • Works well with strict deadlines, changes in priorities, minimum supervision and as a team player serving others
  • Experience with quick books or a similar accounting programme is a must
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Experience from working in a cross cultural environment
