The Jane Goodall Institute Tanzania (JGI-TZ) is a reputable and rapidly expanding non-governmental organization committed to wildlife research, conservation, socio-economic development, and environmental education. JGI Tanzania is currently seeking to recruit suitably qualified and competent Tanzanian to fill the following vacant position:
Job Position: Behaviour Change and Communication Junior Officer
Program / Project : Landscape Conservation in Western Tanzania (LCWT)
Duty Station: Kigoma
Reporting Line: Deputy Chief of Party
Job summary:
Behavior Change and Communication Junior Officer shall execute and implement activities funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) as part of the Landscape Conservation in Western Tanzania (LCWT) program. Behavior Change and Communication Junior Officer will be hired to provide assistance to the BCC Specialist in the implementation of the human behaviour change and communication activities in the LCWT project areas. The Job holder will be responsible collect, document and disseminate good lessons, information through various channels related to the program. Moreover, making sure that what is implemented is communicated effectively to project beneficiaries, partners, and stakeholders.
Key Job Responsibilities & Duties:
Main responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
- Facilitate logistics of BCC activities during implementation of the campaign e.g., movements of journalists, theatre group, government staff, and compost ambassadors to BCC villages.
- Plan and coordinate BCC community events.
- Procure BCC branded materials for BCC activities.
- Facilitate transportation, storage, and distribution of BCC materials to BCC villages.
- Coordinate the recording and production of radio broadcasts. Secure airtime from radio stations for the broadcast of BCC-related content and ensure content is aired as per agreed timeslots.
- Coordinate social media postings about BCC activities via social media as appropriate and according to approved campaign messaging.
- Prepare BCC annual workplan and related budgets.
- Prepare activity justifications, execute activities according to workplan and prepare activity reports
- Capture high quality photos and videos of BCC and other product activities.
- Prepare activity justification execute and produce reports for sharing with the management.
Minimum Job Qualifications and other Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, social marketing/environmental psychology, behavior change or another similar field, o At least 3 to 5 years work experience in behavior change & communications experience promoting landscape conservation awareness.
- Experience working in rural and remote areas of Tanzania implementing behavior change & communications activities, o Ability to work in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Ability to work under pressure, tight deadlines and less supervision, self-motivated person, team player, reporting and presentation skills. Able to spend extended periods in rural settings, o Good Communication skills – fluent in Swahili and English, both verbal and written, excellent communications, presentation, and inter-personnel skills.
- A track record of successful work on complex donor funded projects in a rural context working with multiple stakeholders, o Ability and willingness to travel to the remote field areas quite frequently.
